As part of Studio 88’s ‘Reviving Nature: Pollution Alert’ residency, international artists spotlight the urgent issue: pollution. In Chiangmai, Thailand notorious for its poor air quality from vehicles, factories, and agricultural fires.

A data-driven documentary film, ‹ 1 Day Exposure in Chiang Mai (2024) ›, was executed using AQI PM2.5 data to raise awareness of pollution and environmental conditions embedded in everyday life. It embodies this condition through a data-driven encounter with PM2.5—those near-invisible, carcinogenic particles that infiltrate breath and bloodstream alike. A [sensor-driven exposure]: perception—resonance. The work moves through the ordinary—rides, streets, food stalls, shrines—registering the daily exposure locals unknowingly face. Pollution appears not as spectacle but as condition: absorbed, ambient, already inside.
